Grand Celebration of the 43rd Annual Day of Surana Group of Schools

The 43rd Annual Day of Surana Group of Schools was celebrated with great dignity and splendour on 20 November 2025 at Kamaraj Arangam, Anna Salai. The programme, based on the theme “Divinity in Prem–Bhakti”, symbolised the school’s legacy of over four decades of academic excellence and value-based education.
The occasion was graced by the Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, Dr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. N. Ram (Chairman, Kasturi & Sons Ltd. and Director, The Hindu Group) as the Guest of Honour, whose distinguished presence added further grace to the celebration.
The event became even more special with the presence of School Chairman Shri Kailashmalji Dugar, Secretary Shri Anand P. Surana, Committee Members Shri Vinod Surana and Shri Adesh Surana, Director of Education Smt. Jayanthi Balachandran, Principal Dr. S. Sripriya, and Surana Hightech International School Principal Smt. Kiran Merchant, along with teachers, students, and parents.
School Chairman Shri Kailashmalji Dugar honoured the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour by presenting them with a shawl and a memento. The Principal delivered the welcome address.
In his speech, Dr. Anbil Mahesh highly appreciated the co-curricular activities conducted at Surana Schools and said that for children of the 21st century, the disciplined and moderate use of technology is extremely important. He pointed out that social media today presents several challenges; hence children should use technology only for a limited time.
He advised students to cultivate the habit of reading 10–25 pages of a book every day.
Dr. Mahesh further said that no matter how advanced technology becomes, or how far Artificial Intelligence (AI) progresses, a teacher can never be replaced. The foundation of intellectual growth and holistic education, he stressed, will always be a capable teacher.
On this special occasion, the school launched an innovative initiative towards environmental conservation and a plastic-free campus by installing a Plastic Bottle Reverse Vending Machine. This modern machine was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister. It collects plastic bottles and rewards users with points, thereby motivating everyone to participate in recycling.
Along with this, the AI Teacher was also launched by the Hon’ble Minister. Through this “AI Teacher Avatar”, students will now have access to a virtual teacher who will provide personalised guidance according to each learner’s style, instant clarification of doubts, progress report tracking, and an interactive learning experience.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Anbil Mahesh, lauded this unique initiative of Surana Group of Schools as a remarkable blend of education and science. He remarked, “This application of Artificial Intelligence will not only make learning simpler and more engaging for students but will also serve as a powerful support system for teachers.”
Addressing the gathering, Guest of Honour Mr. N. Ram shared insightful views on the larger purpose of education and its evolving responsibilities in the modern age. He stated that the real aim of education is not limited to academic success alone.
Its true goal is to prepare morally grounded youth, provide intellectual empowerment, make life meaningful, and nurture a sense of positive contribution to society.
He emphasised that children should not only learn to understand the world, but also be inspired to improve it. Highlighting the importance of holistic and balanced education, he said that a successful education system equally nurtures all aspects of a child’s development—physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional.
Health, nutrition, teamwork, respect, justice, empathy, and equal opportunity, he said, are indispensable pillars of education.
Referring to the ongoing debates around technology and Artificial Intelligence, he observed that if modern digital tools are used appropriately, early education can be made highly effective and impactful.
Digital portfolios, gamified learning, and feedback-based assessment systems, he said, are proving extremely useful in identifying students’ learning challenges and providing timely support.
He added that the broader purpose of education is to nurture curiosity, encourage creativity, develop social responsibility, strengthen communication skills, and provide every child with an equal opportunity to progress.
Students presented a series of captivating cultural performances, among which the “Navada Bhakti” play won everyone’s hearts. The trustees and school leadership expressed pride in the achievements of Surana Group of Schools and reaffirmed that the institution will continue its mission of offering value-based, balanced, and future-oriented education.
Teachers who produced centum results in the board examinations were felicitated, and high-achieving students were also honoured with trophies and certificates.
