Surana School Celebrated Its 42nd Sports Day with Great Pomp
Chennai, September 27, 2024 – Surana School, located in Sowcarpet, celebrated its 42nd Sports Day with great enthusiasm at Rajarathinam Stadium, Egmore, Chennai.
The chief guests for the event were Mr. Vinod Kumar, Managing Director of the Sugal Group, retired Assistant Commissioner of Customs Major V.S. Chitrapu, and guest of honour State level kabbadi champion Our school parent Mrs. Priyanka Ramesh Purohit.
The event commenced with students performing a march-past parade, along with the lighting of the Olympic torch.
The chief guest, Mr. Vinod Kumar, praised the students and teachers for their respect, dedication, and passion toward sports. In his address, he emphasized that any task can be accomplished with cooperation, participation, and commitment. He further stated that teamwork, creativity, and hard work are essential for success. He noted that hard work is the secret behind the success of all great and successful people in the world.
Major V.S. Chitrapu’s patriotism, service, truth, sacrifice, and diligence were described as inspiring and exemplary. While addressing the students, he remarked that childhood is the foundation of life. He added that no matter what profession one may choose – architect, lawyer, or governor – one should never forget their basic education from school, as it lays the groundwork for the future.
The students captivated the audience with their energetic and enthusiastic performances, which included various sports and talents like march-past, mass drill, karate, taekwondo, gymnastics, pyramids, aerobics, silambam, and Zumba. Inspired by the joy and colorful costumes of the little ones, even the parents of the students participated in sports competitions, showing youthful energy even at the age of 55.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Anand Surana, Secretary of the School Management Committee, trustees Mr. Vinod Surana, Mr. Rajesh Surana, Mr. Devansh Surana, Mrs. Palak Surana, Academic Director Mrs. Jayanti Balachandran, Principal Mrs. T. Sasikala, Principal of Surana Hi-Tech International School Mrs. Kiran Merchant, and CEO Mrs. Shanti Venkat.
The students were divided into four teams for Sports Day: Adinath, Neminath, Parshvanath, and Shantinath. Among them, the Adinath team emerged as the overall winner and was honored with the trophy. All winning participants from other teams were also awarded trophies, medals, and certificates. Special contributions to the success of the program were made by the teachers and the Physical Education Department Director, Mr. Adikeshavan. The event concluded with the national anthem.
